We are men and women from different backgrounds and we founded Laïques Sans Frontières (LSF) in Paris in January 2023.
Our ambition : to make the principle of "Laicity" a priority of Human Rights throughout the world.
Our slogan :
LAICS OF ALL COUNTRIES, UNITE!
The recent news of the struggle of Iranian women and men who demand a civil state within one of the most brutal theocracies on this planet has reinforced our idea that the time has come to launch a global citizen movement that celebrates, exercises and claims freedom of conscience: democracy cannot be full and complete where religion dictates its rules and imposes its laws and practices.
For a civil state freed from the tutelage of religion, a step towards world peace: we decided to organize an international conference on the theme of the universality of Laicity, in Paris on December 8 and 9, 2023.
Beyond the enthusiasm that this event already has aroused, this conference united us in order to launch from Paris, on the anniversary of the 1905 law, our call to include Laicity as a fundamental principle of Human Rights:
We aim to support all initiatives that promote equal rights.
To this end, we will organize conferences, symposia, campaigns and other events, such as festivals, support concerts, etc.
The association may for this purpose edit, sell, distribute on all media all types of publications related to its objectives.
We will contribute to the production, distribution, and sale of films, on all existing or future media. We may eventually take legal action to enforce the values we adhere to.
LSF aims to promote and defend laïcity as a principle of governance, an essential condition for any democracy and the basis for the constitution of a civil state. It rejects any theocratic power or state founded on religious grounds or referring to any religion. Its ambition is to support all individuals and associations throughout the world who are calling for a civil state, championing freedom of conscience, equal rights, non-discrimination and the humanist and universal values set out in the Charter of Human Rights. To this end, it organises conferences, symposia, international meetings and other events such as festivals, support concerts, exhibitions, etc.
The association may publish, sell and distribute all types of publications related to its objectives, as well as derivative marketing products. It may also contribute to the production, distribution and sale of films, on all existing or future media and for any length of time. It may also take legal action to ensure that the values for which it stands up and the principles to which it adheres are respected.
